Condolences

Condolence From: Edwin Oyler
Condolence: I worked with Jack at the French Camp Fire Department for several years. They were probably
the best years that I spent there. Jack had a way of getting things done as a leader without
getting mad or upset at someone. He had our respect for that. He was always calm when
responding to a fire, something that I tried to learn from him over time. He made work not seem
like work as we would do some pretty crazy things at the fire station from time to time. A food
fight comes to mind that involved spaghetti and another fighter who shall remain nameless to
protect the not so innocent. Anyway, Jack had a passion for refurbishing old cars from what
they were to something completely different. As he did with a race car that looked like a small
Indy car. I painted it and helped him make it street legal complete with a VIN # issued by the
CHP. We had a blast driving it around town and getting stopped by Stockton PD, CHP and the
Sheriff. We never got cited, but made some cop's really mad because we knew the CA. vehicle
code as well (sometimes better) than they did concerning the car. His other passion was buying
and selling just about anything. He loved going to garage sales and picking up something and
reselling it, he had the nick name of "Jack the Junker". He opened two antique stores in
Stockton and also sold items on Ebay. Jack always had something going on. He will be missed.

Condolence From: Leslie Oyler
Condolence: I didn't know Jack as well as my husband did, but everytime I saw him either at the French Camp Fire Dept (back in the day) or when he'd visit us at our house, he was always smiling, upbeat & happy... even when you know he wasn't feeling good. He was a very kind person and never had a bad thing to say about anyone no matter what. And I know he loved his family dearly & was so proud of his wife and kids. He also loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly. Jack was a great friend to my husband & will be very much missed.
