Verlus Wroten Sr.
Born in Bixby, Oklahoma on Sept. 24, 1937 to Leonard M. Wroten and Hiley Jane Stacey Wroten. Brother to six sisters and two brothers all who preceded him in death. Moved to Linden, Ca. in the 1940’s then eventually to Tracy, Calif. Where he graduated at Tracy High and played all sports but his favorite was baseball. He was so good that he tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals and they wanted him back but he went to work to help his parents. He knew so much about sports, that people called him a sports almanac.
He married the love of his life Annie Muriel Wroten in 1960 and started what he lived for; his family. Worked at Tracy post office before taking his career at Holly Sugar where he retired after 33 years. He also umpired many years for city leagues, high schools and Cal Max baseball which he also played for.
He is survived by his wife Annie and daughters Rhonda Reyna of Texas, Cissy Despres of Idaho, Crystal Wroten of Modesto and son Verlus Jr. of Stockton. Preceded in death by daughter Kelli Jane Wroten, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, wonderful son in laws and daughter in law - and many friends. He is one man that will be missed on this earth, until we are together again we love you so much Papa!!!
