Obituary for Richard Elson

Richard Elson
Richard Eugene Elson Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 16th, 2018, at age 56. Rich was born in Watseka, IL., on October 26th, 1961. He resided in Tracy, CA. for the past 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Elson. He is survived by his mother, Beverly, siblings, Melody, Melissa, and David. He is also survived by wife, Shon Coleen Elson of 31 years, two sons, Richard Eugene Jr. (Latoya), Taner Michael (Chelsea), and daughter Ashley (from first marriage, Stacey). He was blessed with nine beautiful grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, which he loved dearly.
Richard enlisted in the United States Army in 1984 and served a short career with C. Co. 1/504th INF BN, 82nd ABN, with many accomplishments. Parachute Badge, Rifle M16 Expert, Hand Grenade Sharpshooter, Dragon Gunner Expert, and received the Army Service Medal. Humble and rarely boasted of these accolades.
He was employed for 23 ½ years with Local 393, Pipe Fitter/Steam Fitter Union in San Jose, CA, until his early injury retirement in 2014.
Rich loved the San Francisco Giants and 49ERS, the outdoors, fishing, gold panning, golfing, and playing poker. His most important past time was being with his wife, children “HIS EVERYTHING”, and family.
HIS KINDNESS, SMILE, AND SENSE OF HUMOR WILL BE GREATLY MISSED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN!
