Obituary for Gertrude M. Ayala

Print
Gertrude M. Ayala, age 81 of Manteca California, passed away on Friday April 19, 2019. She was born to the late Frank Martinez and Mary Romero Martinez, January 18, 1938. Family and friends were Gertrude’s passion and delight. She grew up with her brothers, Frank, Robert, Bill, and Johnny. She married the love of her life, Anthony L Ayala in 1954. The couple moved to Manteca California in 1976 from the small town of Niles California when they purchased an Almond Ranch while holding down full time jobs.

Gertrude love to cook, she had a special touch in the kitchen, many people that had the opportunity to enjoy her cuisine would complement her – she would tell you that she did not know how to cook and she would say that she burns everything - not the case, she would say she would burn a few thing on purpose so she could say she did not know how to cook, but her loving husband of 64 years would say he loves the “burnt ones”.

dGertrude loved to garden, she was a walking horticulture encyclopedia – she loved flowers as well as plants, trees, and shrubs, many would ask her when to plant, and what kind of fertilizer to use, as well as eliminating damaging insects. She had a lush and colorful yard. The yard would smile and have this wonderful glow about it as well as a tranquility to it. Her guest and family often had the opportunity to enjoy her passion for gardening during gatherings.

With a busy schedule, hard work and efforts put over the years Gertrude and Anthony had the opportunity to travel and enjoy the sites around the world with family and friends, she brought fun and laughter no matter where she was, and if there was music she wanted to dance.

Gertrude was always willing to help not only family but others that were in need – her generosity can be used as an example of how we can not only help people in need, but also make a difference in our community.

Gertrude is survived by her husband Anthony L Ayala, three children; Chris Longeway and Husband Jim Longeway, Joann Ayala, Michael Ayala and his wife Elizabeth Ayala, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and her very spoiled dog Bob; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.

Her life was a living example of faith, love, strength, passion, dedication, generosity, and remembering to have fun along the way – she often stated life was too short so enjoy the moments you have. She was a believer in Jesus Christ, she would say that she was blessed in so many ways.

Proverbs 17:9

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
