Obituary for Chhat - Kong

Chhat Kong 11/13/1939-2/11/2020

He’s 80 years young

My dad lived a fulfilled life. He died peacefully in his sleep. As a husband and father he did what he could for his family. He’s fluent in English, French and Cambodian but he had to hide his skills in order to stay alive. (All his kids graduated with honors fyi). He loves to fix things. Always working on cars and what not. If it’s broken my dad can fix it! In the later years my mom n dad found a new passion in fishing and boy I hated waking up early at 5am to drive them but they said I can sleep in the car once we get there. If his net had a tear he could easily weave it and he’d mend the neighbor’s net too. So my college years he drove me to school on the weekdays and I’d drive him on the weekends to their fishing spot it was our thing. He’s got that dry humor where u can’t really tell if he’s joking but he will clown on all of us every chance he gets. Such a prankster! I remember that he was always a gentleman and never laid a hand on my mom regardless of how mad he was. Well most of the time it’s mom who’s always mad at him. It takes a lot of patience and time to grow a family. And we have taken root in America because of this man.
